I remember being about 12 years old and going into to Sears with my dad to replace a broken Craftsman hammer.
He’d had the hammer long before I was born and the handle had broken. The tool department clerk took the broken hammer and handed a brand new Craftsman hammer to my dad with a smile. No charge.
My dad turned to me and said, “This is why I only buy Craftsman”. That moment has stuck with me to this day. Of course, that was back when “Made in the USA” actually meant something.
