I once had a 30 year old tub refinished. The tub was sanded and the refinish was applied. The smell was bad for a few days. The finish looked great initially but within 6 months it cracked around the chrome drain and began to peel. It became great sport in our house to peel away part of the finish with every bath or shower. I will never refinish a tub again.
