ParticipantI can only speak about what my sibling went though. She use to live in a 1 bedroom in Pacific Heights… I recall the bathtub was cracking and pealing, and one of a company was hired to resurface the tub and coat it. It looked great for the first two years, but about after the third, it started flaking/pealing from where the drain fixture was… I don’t know if this was just a bad job from the person that did it, or if they just don’t last as long.just seemed to be at places of joints/etc, it would be difficult to prevent things from separating…

ParticipantHaving just had my bath gutted and remodeled, in large part do to a crap refinishing job in the tub and shower by the previous owner sometime in the past I can honestly say I don’t recommend it. The epoxy, or whatever the hell it was that they sprayed all over the tile and tub had started flaking and was seriously disintegrating at the tub drain. It was god awful.
It’s all I can do to stop from punching in the face those idiots trying to hawk this crappy service in Home Depot.

ParticipantI think the problem is that around drains and fixtures, they don’t remove them when they do the coating. And so,as a result, I don’t think the coating will last around the drain/fixtures, and usually they start pealing from there…At least that’s what I observed….If I recall, the resurfacing isn’t that cheap either.
