I like my company complex rule for saying we'll give you less this year.
We give you 5%+ yearly raises +20+% bonus. BUT, we'll just everyone a shittier rating this year so that most people don't get it, except a few idiotic people who wants to put in an extra 10-20hrs outside of work to get that single digit point increases versus everyone else. We'll call it working "smarter". This is a page right out of dilbert. And I must say, it definitely feels more dilbertish these days.
Hmmm. Sometimes, I wonder if that extract 2-5% which translates into an extra 10hrs/week undocumented "crap hours" is really worth it. Frankly, I've cut back on my work to try not to work overtime. Because if I'm going to get sh!t canned, doing an extra 10hrs/week versus not isn't really going to make an iota of difference. From what it's looking like, the probability of getting sh!t canned in general is looking more likely given the current economy. I'm putting my spare time into myself and starting my own work in case that happens.
