I kind of like paramount standing up for his hood, even if he was goaded into it.
In regards to the smog comment, “up there” to outsiders is usually some place 10 or 20 miles from temecula, the actual city limits enjoys very little smog or pollution. It’s the reason the quarry is a big deal, let me explain….Everything from about Rancho California road and South has a unique wind pattern that blows ocean air accross the valley, that’s why the grapes are where they are and why temperatures are lower in the area affected by the “rainbow gap”
that article also cites the 538 million dollars in tourism from the wine country, a five fold increase in just six years, if you haven’t been lately, you don’t know what you are talking about.
But the very reason the air is clean is why the quarry is a bad idea and likely will cause more problems than most quarries. Maybe it will be no big deal, but the wind that blows the ocean air accross the grapes also passes through where the quarry is before it gets to town, thats the problem. It’s also going in next to SDSU’s nature preserve and other nice designated open spaces. For 100 jobs???
I do believe that they will find themselves in court and may just give up, if it gets built, the first air sample that comes back bad will land them in court again. The richest tribe in the state who owns the largest casino resort in the state is the first thing in its path and i put my faith in them to raise one hell of a stink. The truth is that they can outbribe a quarry company in their sleep, and they will. The Sunrise power link is in San Diego because they blocked it a few years earlier from screwing up their view. I have faith, our nimbys are better than your nimbys, we will be fine.
In other news, it sure looks like the hospital is under construction, that’s cool!!
