I had a chance to speak with a friend who recently joined Amazon and she told me that although the company said they must come back to the office, the manager has total discretion, so she has only been in the office twice over the last 2 months and they have no plan to force anyone to returning to the office. I don’t know how many other teams are like hers, but it seems like it’s not a hard and fast rule.
