I fail to see the connection between one's paranoia about getting injured/killed by an earthquake in a particular area and deciding whether one should rent versus buy in that same area.
If you're really that paranoid about earthquakes and the effects in Temecula, you wouldn't buy NOR rent there. Period. If you're entertaining the idea of renting there, obviously you're not as concerned about earthquakes as you thought you were. So, extrapolating this to other people, I fail to see the connection of how this would be input into a rent versus buy decision maker.
Are we being just a little paranoid here? I mean, don't you fly? Are you ever concerned about a plane's safety record, the possibility of it crashing? And because of it you never travel on a plane? What about driving? Lots of people randomly die in a car accident? You might as well give up your car too.
