I doubt AAA or Amica will touch it. Both operate under the prefered risk catagory – and don’t write policies in fire zones. We tried to get Amica to quote us – they refused. (University City – above 52- so canyon adjacent.) AAA only agreed to give us a quote because my father (who sold us the house) had them AND it was a family transaction… they would not have given us a quote if I were buying from a stranger.
When we needed a construction policy, when we were building our granny flat, AAA refused. So we had a separate policy from Farmers. Farmers seemed much more willing to write policies. So we had two policies – AAA for our home, Farmers for the course of construction policy. Now we just have AAA for both – but Farmers was there when we needed them.
I would definitely talk to Farmers ins. – the agent we used was Scott Field in Mission Valley.
