We need to shift the demand curve. It is that simple. Not shift it down, shift it over.

For example, the average american woman owns 19 shoes.
The average British woman owns 17 shoes.
The average French woman owns 12 shoes.

We’re addicted to cheap, disposable and often easy. It’s not sustainable in many forms.
