I agree with you AK. The inspector doesn’t make sure the house is built well. Code does not do that so how could they. Some inspectors have offered helpful points but mostly they are there to make sure you don’t do things out of the order they prefer and to see if they can find more business for the bilding jurisdiction they represent. Yeah that’s cynical. I actually told the last one I dealt with that they do more harm than good and he took it pretty well.
The flip side is that I hate the lack of freedom to build a heater-less shack out of second hand stuff if you want to. People don’t realize how cooperative we are as “consumers” enslaved to the nimby next door an the shake down artist local governments.Keeping up with the Jones’ is almost mandatory here and has been codified by the authorities. I know I am speaking to the wrong audience mostly here,on this point of view, oh well. Does anyone know of a good hippie housing blog?
