I agree with everything FLU said. Pearl and Emerald are my faves for Chinese in SD, still just OK compared to what you can get up in LA.
Although buffet and “good Chinese food” truly is an oxymoron, after a day of volleyball I sometimes go to Great Moon Buffet as another poster mentioned. It’s cheap and quick and clean and decent.
If you like more seafood-oriented try Sunrise Buffet (Chinese) in Clairemont. It’s very close to Emerald.
Go to Emerald or Pearl for dim sum!
Boycott Jasmine! They hire illegals and buy poached critters.
