I’ve been a realtor since 2002. Although I’ve been reading Piggington for a while now, I have never posted or signed in. I guess I felt that there are a few people that are a bit more qualified that I that already post regularly, so I’ve been reading as much as possible to learn from everyone.
I currently work with mostly buyers as I have not been in the industry long enough to firmly establish myself in one particular area. I live in Encinitas, which is where I have helped a few people find homes and I am working an area called Henie Hills with my uncle who has been an agent longer than I’ve been alive.
I guess I saw your post and figured this was a good opportunity to get my feet wet. In my few years in real estate I feel like the most important thing I can offer is to listen to your needs. I find that more often than not I am a resource to the people that I work with. I’ve got plenty of people that I’ve been working with for years and still have not bought because they did’nt quite feel comfortable and I’m not the kind of person that would talk them into it. I’d rather keep in touch with them and hope they think of me when they are ready.
I know I’m never supposed to say this, but I have another job as well. I’m partners in a small business here in San Diego that is doing well and gives me the flexibility to be available to my clients and never allow the possibility of a commission guide my decision making. I figure that if I keep meeting people and learning everything I can about this complex industry I will get where I want to be in life. And if I dont..I’m a firm believer that the journey is much more important than the destination.
