He said lawmakers will not be able to close the budget gap with cuts alone. He proposed a temporary 1.5 percent sales tax increase and other “revenue generators.”

WHY? I am not saying he is wrong, I am asking why we cant cut the budget anymore. I am sure there are lots of people out there who ‘NEED’ all kinds of stuff who are now cutting back. The most obvious example being gasoline. People screamed bloody murder that their gas tankfulls were expensive. Then, they cut back. Demand fell, and some of the expectations of future demand that were driving the prices up so much also fell. Somehow people seemed to get along with less driving.
That is just an example. I am not saying that cutting driving didnt hurt, or was a happy choice, but it was a choice that had to be made. So again I ask: “Why cant they cut more?”
