For you and others like you who believe homosexuality is something that just happens, when does someone become gay? Is there a “gay gene? If so, what causes it? When does the transformation take place? Is it when we’re 2? 4? Or are we born this way?
I haven’t accepted the theory that the 14-year-old boy who is in a lot of pain because he is gay, feels he is gay, or leads a gay lifestyle was born this way. I don’t believe it’s as simple as that. You have to understand that there are other things beside professional training that influence a person’s beliefs.
It is always the mother’s fault Marion. Seriously, I have not come to accept any of this either. However, it might be easier if I were not straight or homophobic or an old fashioned religion believing individual. So it isn’t an intellectual discussion at all..it is about accepting people who are different(than me), who’s shoes I can not walk in. I don’t even think the why matters unless it matters to the person who is gay or at odds with their sexuality. I agree with the person who posted that this is the same as denying a bus seat based on color, only that homosexuality, is less easy to resolve on a viceral basis. In my opinion the problem is of the person who can’t resolve it and doesn’t want to unless they have proof of some sort.
