Football players are overpaid in spite of the fact that those that actually get paid for doing so are an infintismally small percentage of the population, the avg career is about 3 years, they are virtually guaranteed to be permanently disabled in some way and they get virtually no benefits upon retirement. The problem is public servants have virtually guaranteed lifetime employment and benefits at wages that dont seem communsurate with their work relative to other occupations. No one i saying they should be paid $10/hour but mid 6 figure incomes are well above what most folks in the private sector earn with just as tough jobs. While I regret none of the decisions I made in life, if I could step into a time machine and go back to the day I graduated knowing what I know today, while I defintely wouldnt want to be a cop I certainly wouldnt rule out being a fireman.
