Actually I feel we need to help poor people get better education.
I’m making a leap here brian but I am inferring that when you refer to the ‘poor’ kids you mean ‘low performers’ as schools don’t identify students by parents income.
I’m among the politically incorrect crowd who is in favor of pushing more aid to the gifted kids.
Once you have kids brian, you will see the inner workings of schools and how much $$ is spend on programs to bring low performing kids up. Ever wonder why their are so many ‘syndromes’ now. New syndromes = new fed money for school programs. Correction: fed mandates which is paid at the local level.
Parents are already paying out of pocket for; tutors, enrichment classes, league sports, music lessons, .. it goes on and on. Not just the ‘rich’ but many middle income budget quite tightly to give their kids the best opportunity.
I feel it is a mis-allocation of public funds to ..not.. really spend on the gifted programs as those kids will be the future.
Kinda like spending tons of cash on a racehorse that always finishes last on the hopes that .. someday, with extra training, etc. he will be first.
Ps:Please don’t feel you will gain anything by flaming me and sorry for the threadjack. Just hit on a pet peeve of mine.
