You are right, there is no place is without some risk. The coastal areas are less prone to wild fires, however the immediate beach areas could be impacted by Tsunamis. I remember shuddering when I saw video of the Indonesia Tsunami a couple years back.
Personally, I would not live within mile of a beach. Just me and my level of risk tolerance. Other problems with beach are transients, beach rental houses next door, etc…
