I’ll tell you folks what. You buy that $700 dresser, I’ll buy the $125 ikea special, and if my kid doesn’t loose interest in the plain white, I’ll replace them every two years if it falls apart and probably still come out ahead. (and yes, that pottery barn special is made in china just like the ikea special).

IKEA furniture have its place. I have plenty of IKEA tables and dressers too. Don’t get me wrong, I love their stuff because it looks good and it’s cheap. But I definitely won’t kid myself in thinking that somehow, I’m getting more than what I’m paying for. Jerome is my other favorite furniture store. Especially if you can find something in their clearance section. It could be much cheaper than IKEA and much better built. My TV stand from Jerome will definitely last for ages, even w/ my kid climbing on, jumping on, and running things into it. I can’t say the same for my IKEA dressers.
