A ranch 99, or GOOD chinese food/cafe would NEVER be in an a more afluent community in SD. Margins are too low, and the rents would be too high…That’s how you get those $5.99 lunch specials. Finding places were rent is cheap(er)…..Wouldn’t happen in Carlsbad,CV,Encinitas..
If it were to happen, the food would either (1) taste bad or (2) be incredibly expensive or (3) not really authentic or (4) all of the the above.
And no, PF Changs is NOT chinese food…It qualifies as food in category (4) in my book. That’s why in the newer strip malls, you see so many Sushi places. Because it’s expected you can charge an arm/leg for that.[/quote]
I was actually only half kidding when I mentioned that Carlsbad officials should have used the money spent on the golf course on getting 99 Ranch over. Carlsbad has everything Asians desire, new homes, good schools. The only thing lacking is a decent Asian market.
you bring in the Asians, test scores go up, the real estate prices will go up as well.
