Flu: Strong parallels to Carter. Carter was dealing with the malaise of Vietnam (which fell to the communists in 1975), Watergate, a recessionary economy, the OPEC oil shocks, and inflation.
I don’t doubt that Carter was as well meaning as Obama, and no dumb bunny, either (he was a Naval Academy graduate), but circumstances were clearly beyond his control.
A lot of us who pointed out Obama’s weaknesses in terms of experience were attacked for doing so, but I think we’re seeing that it is truly a problem. He was also built up as the Messiah and, once this is exposed as a fraud, the fall will be fast and fatal.
