Fishsticks: In terms of scapegoating, you don’t need to look any further than internment camps, like Manzanar, that were used by the US during WWII.

Up here in Fallbrook, I’m surrounded by arch-conservative, very well armed former Marines. Given my military background, it isn’t hard to imagine a group of former military or law enforcement types getting up in arms.
