I didn’t make myself clear. I wasn’t referring to anyone on this board, but rather the women that work in the schools where I did my psychology fieldwork/internship. It goes without saying that these women are ignorant in their resentment. It’s not my fault for whatever reason they are where they are in life. I’m not the only one that experiences this of course, but it gets kind of old and in this day and age it shouldn’t be happening. That said, it will continue to happen, this kind of thing will never go away completely. People are people and the ignorant and bigoted will remain along with the intelligent and good.
When I have experienced this behavior and “looks” my inclination is to go over to their desks and say, “Bitch, get a life!” However, it would neither be appropriate nor professional for me to lower myself to their level. I have standards to uphold by the credentialing body that has authorized me to practice in this state, so it goes without saying I can’t say whatever I think. More’s the pity! Ha! 🙂
We have to teach as well as be an example to these type of individuals and combat their ignorance in that fashion.
