There are 3 wires on the poles.
If I remember them right, one is 230KV, and 2 are 690KV. They are not mega-voltage lines, but are still considered as high voltage.
The EMF in the master bedroom is equvilent to having a fluorescent light always on 24×7 around you.

From physics standpoint, voltage is irrelevant, the important factor is the current. EMF is proportional to the current and inversely proportional to the distance between you and the power line.
A megaproject such as Sunrise Powerlink might pack some heavy juice – 4000 amp – you probably wouldn’t want to live under that one. Local power line could be 100 amp or lower. The EMF from a 100 amp line 200 feet away would be the same order of magnitude as “natural” fields from electric wires in your walls.
So is anyone concerned about HVAC lines being buried underground versus in on masts…I don’t know, but it seems like at least in lots of Torrey Hills, to make things look appealing, they buried the HVAC lines in the ground, and placed markers indicating don’t dig here. Sometimes I think having a powerline hang 20-30 feet above you is still better than being around one that is 4-5 feet under your feet.
