flu, I agree wholeheartedly!
Yes, I am scratching my head today about what kind of thinking they went through on this one…
I’m long INTC (thought it was cheap), but if this is how they are running their business, their current valuation might be justified…
angry shareholder
Well, I’ve been a long time shareholder. Everytime, they hit around mid twenties, I think “finally, Intel’s focusing on what they do best…microprocessors. They’ve finally got their act together and not trying to diversify into other businesses they have no clue about…” Then they pull a shit off…again…
Otellino has to go. He was the reason why intel got into the first mess in which AMD started to eat into intel’s marketshare..Because he decided to venture into a 4th/5th rate wireless company thinking WIMAX is the next big thing. AMD ate Intel’s lunch for about 2 years… Then AMD made the ultimate baffoon move and acquired ATI, and diluted whatever edge it had….(Hey Intel, maybe you can learn a play or two from AMD about how NOT to spread yourself too thin)…
Intel can’t do anything but chips. It’s been proven time and time again….Because too many leaders and decision makers can’t think software/services. That’s not going to change unless there’s a major shakeup…
First it was exploring into into some wireless businesses with WiMax… FAIL…..
And then it was investing VC dollars into other SW bizs… FAIL again…
Windriver acquisition…FAIL (ok not complete fail, but not exactly growth there either)…
And now this……ULTIMATE FAIL….
WTF? Hey Intel…Give it up. You suck at software. Leave the software work to the rest of us…Just give us a decent hardware core to work on….(At least you got the Apple alliance correct)…
Go buy out a real wireless chip company. And buy someone that’s a 2nd seed (since you won’t be able to afford a 1st seed company like Qualcomm) and don’t even consider someone that’s a 4th or 5th seed that you think is a good bargain like you did last time..There’s a reason why those 4th or 5th seed companies are at the bottom.. If you want growth, you need the best and you have cash…I hear Infineon’s looking for a buyer for example.
