Well, the ones that were on antibotics did survive. The perfectly healthy ones were the ones I accidentally “cooked”, I’m guessing.
So the story goes that I bought a few beta fishes which turns out cannot go together in the same tank (since they are fighting fishes). So I separated them out into smaller tanks at the time some got sick. The sick ones gave them antibiotics. The healthy ones were ok…Then two weeks ago, weather starts to get cold, the ones on antibiotics start to look lethargic, so I took the tank heater out of the healthy ones’ tank and buy a new tank heater for the healthy ones, thinking better give the better heater to the healthier ones just in case. Long story short, new heater was off (way off), so it looks like the healthier ones either went into shock from the sudden heat change from the new heater, or the heater had a eletric leak and shocked them. They died two days later….(Insert your favorite joke about made in china products here )
……Proving the old saying that “no good deed goes unpunished..” The ones on antibiotics were fine…So last week was fun… I went all around town looking for beta that looked almost identical to the ones my girl had before I cooked them. Ended up finding them at petsmart, though they look smaller and slightly different color. Also, petsmart gave me the fish after I told them the heater I bought from them killed by daughter’s fishes in the tank. ….Daughter noticed the fish were slightly smaller, and asked me about why are they smaller. I said, I don’t know, perhaps they are a little sick…Somehow, I think I’ll defer the “I cooked your fish by accident” until she’s older…Anyway, I got three fish tanks, because apparently female betta can be kept together, but the remaining two male betas have to be kept separate. So changing water in three tanks is definitely fun….Not….I would end up just getting a bigger tank and putting two separators, but I’m afraid if I move the fishes now into a new environment, some might die again.
