DW I am past the one year anniversary on my lease so I am technically month to month… However even in the middle of my lease I was looking. Most landlords are okay with a tenant breaking the lease if the tenant can come up with a qualified replacement when he/she leaves. That card is overplayed by renters who think they are “locked in” to the lease.
Renting sucks… for some it is great for me it blows. Our fence consistently breaks in different places which means my dogs get out and I have to go find them while the landlord does patchwork fixes. Two weeks ago the hose to the toilet blew off right when we turned off the bathtub… that was a real fun night that night. The root cause was a faulty pressure regulator which I told the landlord about last year and he never fixed so the pressure on the interior plumbing is super high. I am not up for moving yet again as that would make 4 times in 4 years. No thanks. For me right now it is about finding the right house more so then finding the bottom of the market. Of course the right house needs to be within a certain range and in a very specific location. If it happens great and if not that is okay as I am hopefully saving more money as each month passes.
