Doubling the price of gasoline won't kill anyone. It will just force us all to stop wasting resources with impunity and destroying the environment. I look forward to many more days where the price of oil jumps $10/barrel/day.
I guess you won't mind being unemployed either or paying $10/gal for milk , or $500 for a two way ticket to the bay area, etc. But of course cars/trucks/trailers/airplanes used to transport goods/services that you fundamentally depend on don't pass the cost of transportion to you when fuel prices go up. Long term, price of fuel pain would do us some good. But, again, be careful what you wish for. You're gas sipping prius isn't going to make an iota of difference in your economic situation in the short/mid term if the $10/gal fuel prices really happen. You're going to be paying for it in everything else that depends on fuel costs. You ready?
