Do you have a full relo package? I’ve done a few cross country corporate moves… with various benefits.
When I moved from SD to Bellingham, WA I was offered $5000 reimbursable with receipts. That wasn’t enough for a full pack out – but at the time having a mover do it was cheaper than a U-Haul by about $200… and less work.
When I moved from Bellingham to Philly it was the full package. They offered to buy my house (at slightly less than market rate – but no commission) or pay my closing costs if I sold it myself. I went with the latter and they paid my commission and escrow fees. They did the pack-out move. They put me up in a rental for up to 3 months. They paid closing costs on my new home purchase (within 1 year of moving) which included 3 pts, inspections, and typical escrow costs.
When I moved to Atlanta they paid for pack out and movers.
When I moved back to Atlanta – I was fleeing a HORRIBLE job – and was grateful the new company would pay for a u-haul.
When I moved back to San Diego I had the pack out and movers, as well as airfare for my family/cat. They did not pay any closing costs or commissions.
All this is a long winded way of saying – find out what they cover and take full advantage!
