Back in the mid-1990s, I worked as a CFO for a large insurance broker in Orange County. My assistant, Carol, dated Len Dykstra when they were in high school together in Garden Grove. She said that, even then, he had something of a delusional personality (beyond the typical HS jock attitude) and would use people constantly to get what he wanted and get his way.
