Funny story about that lounge: I was there working the legislative side and got hit on by an attractive mid-40s type who had overheard my mentioning our offices are in La Jolla. She was excessively friendly until I let drop that the reason our offices are in La Jolla is our relationship with the School of Structural Engineering at UCSD. She was gone like snow in July immediately following. I guess academia doesn’t hold the same monetary appeal as politics or the private sector.
