Could you build the cabinet up to match the rest and possibly replace the countertops (or do they even need replacing)? A cooktop and 30″ wall oven installed below it are far superior to a drop-in range, IMO. Most ovens today are “convection” ovens which have a big fan in back and may not fit in some installations. Then you would need a “microhood.” That is a matching microwave with a range hood & lights below it. It would be installed below shorter cabinets the size that are installed above a refrigerator.
If you already have expensive granite countertops, then it’s not worth it to replace them so just replace the drop-in range and get a microhood to match, if you can find one.
Look in Sears Outlet on Sherman St just west of Morena Blvd. Sometimes they have matching appliances available. They have MORE frigs than any other appliance. Their appls have minor imperfections (usually not visible), are overstock, unsold prior-year(s) stock or were <=30-day returns. I've even seen induction cooktops there (latest technology). Everything is "out of box" and you carry it home.
If you can't replace the countertops right now and your old drop-in range still works, even if I had to use a thermometer in it for awhile until I could afford new countertops, I would wait to buy a gas or induction cooktop and 30" wall oven for a "built-in" look. But this is just me.
