I hear you on this. My mother in law is the worst… she grew up in the depression, raised 6 kids and never drove a car… she’s the queen of “I can use that for something… just haven’t figured out what, yet.”. We really ride her to keep the granny flat free of clutter… She’s never met a cheap pie tin, or plastic cake holder that can’t be repurposed.
Her sister in law (hubby’s aunt) is even worse – goes to garage sales and pays money for trash and junk… (She drives so she can make special trips to get junk.) Their Jersey shore house is scary with all the years of accumulated crap.
I don’t know if it’s growing up in the depression, or if it’s growing up poor children of immigrants… but both sides of hubby’s family are like that.
