I’ve never understood what makes mortgage interest “special” compared to other (non tax deductible) interest. Plenty of countries don’t have a mortgage interest deduction – and home ownership is at similar levels.
Sure, I get the advantage – but I’d be willing to give it up if push came to shove.
And +100 on the wall street crooks should go to jail.
