Not if you have a wells fargo advisor account that gives you 1000 free trades each year, per account.
That’s a sweet deal Flu! But there’s no free lunch in this world… there must be something that WF gets out of this.
The fee is higher than other places once you run through your free trades. With $25K PMA package you get 100 free trades/year and pay $20/trade after that. And I don’t think you can use free trades on penny stock.
*Edit*
Oops I meant 100 free trades. Extra zero. I have more than one account that’s part of PMA in there (different title and ownership)…heh heh.. I also have 5 schwab account and I’ve been grandfathered with some free trades…
The gotcha is if you do penny stocks or options, they aren’t free. Also, in the case of schwab, AH and pre market trading was excluded. And supposedly the execution on wells isn’t that great. (I haven’t noticed though). You can’t get the free trades at schwab anyway. What happened was awhile back I was sort of pissed at schwab and was going to move elsewhere (ameritrade I think. Schwab gave me a few concessions)
The commission rates of wells fargo after that is $8.95, which is the same as Schwab. Wells Fargo Advisors, however, have the nice(r) setup that Schwab does. Not that I particularly use it.
