You don’t need to live right next to a strip mall to be walkable. I live w/in 1 mile of an Asian supermarket, 1 mile of Vons/Smart n Final, 1.5 miles of Fresh n Easy. I live w/in 1-1.5 miles of a brewery, a pub, BevMo, CVS/Walgreen/Target/Babies R Us/Kohl’s/Marshall’s, various restaurants, such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese, Filipino, Mexican, American, Souplantation, Hometown Buffet, many different fast food, Bowling. I live w/in 2-4 miles of many high tech companies. I live 2 blocks away from the elementary school and park, 4 blocks away from the Jr. High school, and 7 blocks away from the HS. Is that walkable enough for you?
