I am content for the U.S. to sit this one out.
Let the countries that often feel we are too aggressive or impulsive take a shot. Let Italy or France spend lives and treasure.
I think we can credibly say we have our hands full at the moment.
Also, folks always seem to talk about how easy things are going to be before we get involved, then they become messy and more complex real quick.
A no fly zone *is* late and would not be cheap nor without casualties and other consequences.
If the argument is “We need to go in to save the people from a dictator” then we are overdue in many other countries in the world simultaneously right now.
Allan’s idea on another thread of lobbing a few SLCM’s I could support I guess if it were likely to do more harm than good. In making that evaluation though I’d want TPTB to consider the impact in other countries besides just Libya and to try to consider say the 5-year picture.
