Health insurance and hospitals – WHO can afford to pay the insurance and the hospitals the sums they are demanding???

Health care is expensive because people don’t see the bills at all, or way after the services are rendered.
I think that we should have national public health coverage with a catch.
Patients would be responsible to pay, out of pocket, the first 1/4 of their income in health care costs.
You’ll see patients bargaining for coverage and prices will drop drastically.
You’ll also see natural selection resume its proper course. The people with bad genes won’t be able to reproduce so much.[/quote]
National public health coverage is what I’m praying for. Basic/preventative care should not count against the 1/4 income rule or it will just keep people from seeking care until it’s too late imho.
But what do I know? Looks like the healthcare reform is being shaped by the same people who want to keep profiting from it. Read a line in an article that said insurance companies are coming around to ’embracing’ health care reform because they realize many of their ‘customers’ will be moving over to MediCare, due to the aging of the baby boomers. What perfect timing for them.
