Brian: Clinton missed a golden opportunity to take bin Laden out. However, you’re right: The blown opportunities date back to Reagan and both Dem and GOP presidents have mishandled various opportunities on terrorism and we can go all the way back to our support of the insurgents during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. In a perverse way, we “created” bin Laden and the Taliban and have reaped what we’ve sowed.
I think Obama made an great call (using the Team 6/TFR approach versus drone) in going after Osama and I thought his speech following the announcement of bin Laden’s death was excellent.
I don’t have a Dem versus GOP bias and I haven’t voted GOP since Dole in 1996. The GOP, IMHO, is in a “wilderness” period right now and I’m just waiting to see how long it will take them to pull their respective heads outta their asses.
I also don’t have a bias against Obama personally. And that’s key, because I think he’s a smart cat, and a personable guy, but I also think he’s totally wrong for the job, in much the same way that Dubya was totally wrong for the job: Not enough relevant experience and no real “dirt under the nails” in terms of life experiences.
As to Palin: I’ve come out numerous times on this board and said that I think that woman is a complete and total idiot and it looks like her fire is finally burning out. P.T. Barnum was right.
