No. They only very rarely know the truth. The story they tell may seem unlikely, or implausible, to themselves or others, but if that’s true, the factfinder should be able to see through that.
Sometimes very unlikely implausible stories turn out to be true. it is not up to the attorney to judge whether it is true or not, because she simply doesn’t know.
