Utter gibberish. I was an instructor and a military advisor during my time in the Army and I can tell you that it doesn’t take weeks to train soldiers, it’s a constant, on-going process.

Good for you. How’s the march to DC progressing?
So what is the minimal number of days of training before a 17 year old dropout qualifies for a chance to shoot at another person? 15 weeks?
My lack of sympathy for people who are trained to kill on command probably exceeds your fascination with the said group. No doubt they all do it for the right cause, as witnessed by the parents of the children killed around the world – from NY, to Sri Lanka, to Irak, to Bosnia, to Afganistan, to Vietnam, to Somalia, to you name it.

BG: Again, another facile piece of sophistry. Now you’re conflating teenage killers from Somalia with trained US Army soldiers (most of whom aren’t 17 year old dropouts by the way). I’m sure you feel that this somehow buttresses your argument, but it actually does the opposite. Unlike Somalis, for instance, soldiers in the US Army are well versed in proper rules of engagement, most of which put them even more in harm’s way and most soldiers have lost friends and comrades because of not opening fire due to the risk of killing civilians or non-combatants. This is the result of (generally speaking) years of training, not weeks. Most soldiers are better educated than you give them credit for and the non-commissioned officers and commissioned officers certainly are. I don’t know your educational background, but I worked with officers that were all college graduates at a minimum and many had master’s degrees in foreign policy or various languages.
Speaking of drop outs: You’re aware of the proper spellings of “Iraq” and “Afghanistan”, aren’t you?
I don’t have a fascination with said group, I have sympathy and empathy, having been there myself. Of course, smug elitists like yourself simply discard any notion that soldiers (or law enforcement) are possessed of humanity and simply refer to them as “killers” who do their job “on command”. Not how it works at all. Of course, you’re not about the facts, it’s far easier to spout unfounded value judgments instead.
