BG, You’re kids attended elementary school years ago, under different budget constraints and in different school districts. Things are different now. Class sizes are different now. The teachers in our school are just as senior. My sons 6th grade teacher is teaching her 35th 6 grade class this year. Is that senior enough for you? She teaches every single subject and the kids dont rotate. In previous years there were some rotations but students were not tracked, they traveled as a class.
I never said there were parents in all classes, I said there were parent volunteers in my kids classes. Many of them, every day doing hands on work. Giving tests, grade papers, assembling assignment packages, running math centers and more. These parents are highly educated and competent. They allow the teachers to focus on the more important things they have to do which is teaching kids.
As for what my son is doing, it has to do with the calibur of kids he is around and the level of things they are doing. Lots of kids play video games but that isnt just what they are doing. They are learning to do things at a very high level, working collaboratively on it together. It is an amazing thing to watch.
