ben franklin was an early proponent of the “time is money’ school of thought. hard to believe, but people didn’t always feel that way. strong puritan streak in america equating wealth with evdience of god’s favor. would make sense that old ben would give advice calculated to maximize wealth and social standing. or, as one might aptly say in conversation today, “it’s all about the benjamins”.
