The basic style for the Amarillo exterior is just fine. There is just too much brick for my taste or for most of us here in California. Less brick and more _____ (not sure) would have worked better.
Brick is very very popular in the TX/OK area and many homes out there have their exterior completely brick. To them, it looks quite normal and fine. They question California’s abundance of stucco and to their eye, that can be quite tacky.
Neither view is right or wrong – it is what it is. If you grew up in TX/OK, you’d probably be brick-centric yourself.
The front elevations of gzz’s linked Plano homes seem quite photoshopped. Skies, windows and drives at a minimum, but a lot of the rest as well. And it is too busy for my taste. The interior looks pretty interesting though. I note those are very narrow homes and look california-esque in that respect. They have a lot of room in TX. Interesting that they are squeezing homes together now too.
