At some point desalination becomes viable option, but I agree with esmith
“It may drive home prices UP rather than down. Water shortages will put an end to indiscriminate building and cut off the supply of new housing.”
In Valencia prices have held up somewhat better than expected just because they limited home building because of no water supply for the new area’s.
This may become a state mandate (limit home building etc…)
As for people leaving the state, not likely , Socal grows at the rate of about 1600 people per day, day in day out..
