I really didn’t want to get more cable tv, but since I’m going to be bedridden sometime in the future and since I have visitors staying, I thought the standard basic cable wasn’t gonna cut it for my guests…Anyway, here was the details
ATT Uverse U-100 (100+channels): $44/month
1 extra receiver: $7
-$14/month for 1 year promotion
-$10/month for 6 month promotion
ATT Uverse Express Internet : $25/month
-$15/month san diego promotion until the end of the year.
So total was about $37/month for the first 6 months, beyond which I’ll probably cancel the TV.
I had to ask for these deals, and had to call different ATT reps, since it seems like not every agent knows about all these deals. Each time I called, I got a different price, so I kept requesting getting transferred to a different agent until the price was low enough 🙂
What I had before was
Time Warner cable (Basic )$13/month
ATT DSL basic $15/month.
And because i needed DSL, ATT Basic phone line : $13/month
Time Warner wanted $58/month for extended cable (I balked). The drawback from U-verse is you need a receiver for each room, which is an addtional $7/month. BUT, I’m only requesting 1 additional one. (I have an RF radio that can propagate channels from one receiver to another TV, so I have a total of 3 TV’s that will be able to do this). The other drawback is that installation isn’t mid/end february (backlogged).
I also heard customer service isn’t too great.
Technically, I could get rid of my land line, because U-verse does not require a phone line . But I figure my guests might want to be able to make local calls.
