[quote=Arraya]Of course, according to Frank Rich of the NYT, anyone who disagrees with Dear Leader is a right-wing extremist, dead set on overthrowing our government by force. Which then sets the stage to disarm the country, because those pesky guns are dangerous.
You are either with us or with the terrorists. It’s the same mind fuck, different audience. Probably the same script writers behind the scenes. Before you were a terrorist sympathizer, now you are about to shoot up the Holocaust museum if you disagree with the state.
End result of domestic and foreign terrorists. Less civil liberties, a police state and squashing dissent. Which works out pretty well with the economic prospects and endemic corruption that should genuinely piss people off.
I think you are correct about the guns. Though, we will need a few more shootings to garner public support.

Arraya: Have you noticed the sudden focus from those in the media that are leftward leaning (Maher, Rich, etc) about “homegrown terrorism” and the Right? I read Rich’s article in the NYT, after watching “Real Time with Bill Maher” and both were bloviating about this sudden surge in right wing “attacks” (Dr. Tiller and the Holocaust Museum shootings).
You’re right, it is a mindfuck. But a damn good one. By scapegoating and blame shifting, the Left can “set the table” in terms of gun control, information control and, most importantly, population control. I have to believe the greatest fear of the administration is a genuine flaring of populist anger (similar to the AIG bonus backlash, but much, much larger) and they’ll do what they must to control it.
