My mom, of course, being having her law roots and generally a very argumentative woman that no one in the family can ever win an argument with… goes postal on the lady who suddenly shuts up…
The reason why I say this is racism is because this is how it was throughout a lot of asian’s life. Some people don’t care. Some of us do. Similar to some people don’t mind getting kicked around at work by crappy bosses and their biases and put up with it for job stability and security. Some of us do and leave and find a better place where we are respected more as equals, even if it takes a couple of times to find a place where we’re treated better. Like I said, a person who spends 2 years at different companies working on a leading edge project is a lot better off than someone stuck 4 years working at a dinosaur company working on a system trying to send email, despite the architect spending 4 days putting a prototype together that demonstrates the same thing could be done with something like ConstantContact …so overpriced engineers could be reallocated to doing things more important than managing an internal marketing email system that takes 2 months do to 1 email template…but instead on new stuff, like mobile technology
…Of course when prototypes were done, ahole technically incompetent architect steals idea and project while new architect is on medical leave and sticks new architect on old piece-of-shit email system thinking new architect don’t mind taking shit…. while old architect works on new architecture that new architect created …but eventually fucks it completely up anyway, after new architect gives middle finger to old company and leaves for a new job with a new bigger role and a 25% salary bump + stock grants and leaves big heap of train wreck behind…
You’re only worth as much as you’re willing to give yourself any self respect, when no one else is willing to give it to you. And it’s a great motivator to focus on what I guess these newer iGeneration kids called “a side hustle”…which is why I love investing and personal finance..You see it really makes pretty good sense… Some people who focus their time on trying to move up, get a bigger role in a corporate ladder, and in doing so obtain greater financial independence from a eventually larger comp package. Others, like one of my coworkers, have no desire to do that, so they just put in the bare minimum to get a paycheck to pay the bills and then spends most of their time working on something else (that coworker was buying and selling real estate and running his own brokerage firm from within the company we were working at, lol. He’s ridiculously wealthy now and didn’t care when he got laid off)…. Either way works fine..Me I try to do a little of both, so that I get 2 ways of building my empire…The worst those that stay at a job, don’t try to move up the ladder and don’t work on a side hustle either…I call that purgatory…
