fredo4: Uh, okay. And that would make Black Flag a total Dead Kennedys rip off then?
Husker Du stood quite well on their own, thank you. I think if any band in that era was somewhat derivative, it was Black Flag.
Where is Dan, by the way? He never responded to my question on Skinny Puppy and Front 242 as bands that could augment Ministry. Speaking of derivative and reductionist, what the hell happened to Mininstry lately anyway? They’ve gotten so consumed with Dubya they forgot how to make good music. Overly politicized crap, IMHO. Kind of like Rage Against The Machine going all Noam Chomsky.
What was the question on 242 and skinny puppy?
I don’t recall it.
I totally agree on the ministry front.
I saw them with revco opening a few years back. It was awesome. Weird moment: in the pit, the guy I was locked up with said “weren’t you hosting that open house last week?”
Anyhoo, that was a killer show (the one with “gay-dolf hitler”). Ministry was okay but not great. Then I saw the show a few months ago. Much crappier. Perhaps, my pregnant wife having to stay out of the pit colored it for me but it felt more like a outtake of Spinal Tap than a show for one of my favorite bands.
