allan, allan, allan. where to begin. Veterans are occasionally, sometimes, and in your case in particular, such a bunch of blowhards, so profoundly inflated with their sense of self-importance that it’s difficult to address them in a rational manner. Since you are the savior of the nation and that which all of our freedom depends on from your worldview, I i suppose I understand your tone. Let me be blunt. The military industrial complex is a business. it is too big. It is largely unnecessary. It fights wars that have nothing to do with freedom. it is a big giant bully, kinda like you and your buddies. your tone is, yeah, we’re so tough, we could go ona tear, we could kick the cops ass, you all are lucky we love america so much we wont. not that we respect our laws or nothing, just america. vietnam saved our freedoms? irag saved our freedoms. the gulf war saved our freedoms? it’s about money, power and business. I am so fatigued by people kissing th eass of the military, the vets, the yellow ribbons, the cops, all of the control seeking, power mongering crap. .maybe it’s just the msm that so brainwashed me. i’m open to that. maybe i’m a fool. i’m open to that. but what i see is kids now joining th emilitary as a CAREER, not as service. it’s WHATS IN IT FOR ME. and once the draft was gone, THATS HOW ITS ALWYS BEEN. it’s a risk benefit, what are my options, hmm, what’s this about lfietime free health care? it’s not just service, if it is that at all. it’s learn a trade, get some college money, and get the psych benefit of being able to tell others and have others beleive you’re a good guy. also, some chicks dig it. i didn’t thank you or anyone for your service. i still beleive that it is often MORE patriotic to refuse to serve in certain wars than it is to serve. i think it can be more patriotic to refuse to participate ina corrupt, venal, imperialistic war-state than otherwise. and I think your tone generally is condescending and not humble and i don’t know, jerky. not like WWII vets. the ones i talk to tend to be humble about stuff. veterans today just aint the way they used to be. maybe because they’re part of a quasi-business, quasi gang, that is all about money, and not about what america really stands for. obviously, i’m overstating my thoughts for effect. i’m sure most kids enter the military for mixed reasons, many of which they are only semi-aware of at the time; pride in country, wanting to do the right thing but not being sure what that is, wanting to kill people, wanting to serve, wanting to establisha career, wanting money for college, wanting to do what they’re da did, wanting to please the Allans of the world, wating to be thanked or loved, wanting to be tougher, wanting to make friends and buddies and sustain the sort sof relationships the military can foster for a lifetime, which obviously is a beautiful thing.
but you are not responsible for my freedoms. sorry dude. we’d be free without vietnam.
we’d be free without iraq.
and it’s my opinion that just cause we have the biggest stick on the block, that’s not the reaosn the world is “peaceful”, if it is….
open your mind to the possibility that war isnt the answer.
and guess what…all those peopel that are “thanking you” for your service, the yellow ribbons, it’s all fundamentally bs.s. it’s b.s. because they wouldn’t particpate int he war themselves, they wouldn’t send their kid? it means they are really thinking, deep down, thanks…thanks for fighting for my monetary interests. because god knows it isn’t really worth dying for, not my kid. so just because someone is polite, says thank you, kisses veteran ass ina political manner. doesn’t mean anything. it doesnt mean anything unless they’d put themselves on the line. and just because youw ere ina combat zone doesnt necessarily mean that combat had any mroe meaning for freedom int he world than if you’d been playing CALL OF DUTY.
