If anything, the more we know about how such things work, the more we can fall in awe of them, and to me that is spirituality.
I agree with your take on the “awe” of the world, and I suppose by your definition that would make me spiritual. Unfortunately “spiritual” has a root word that is difficult for me to reconcile. I find beauty in the fact that something like an ant can come to exist without the hand of a magic “spirit” making it be.
Afx: I think you’re thinking too small here, and I’m not being snarky when I say that. The idea of an animating “spirit” is too small. Whatever term you use: God, or the Great Spirit or The Force, there is something out there and I don’t believe its as banal as saying things “just happened”.
But, hell, I could be wrong and if science moves to a point where many of my beliefs are shown to be grossly incorrect, I’ll be the first to say I was wrong.
As to Faith: To me, Faith is more than a comfortable stopgap when I don’t have a better explanation. Faith is the belief in something More that I cannot comprehend and Reason provides the process whereby I can educate myself and move closer to find answers to the great questions. I think there is a meaning to life and I think we are here for some reason other than just existing and passing on.
